Admissions Arrangements Consultation for 2024-2025

The Board of Trustees at Exceed Academies Trust, as the admissions authority, intends to determine (set and approve) the following admissions policy arrangements for entry into all mainstream schools within the Trust during the academic year September 2024 to July 2025.

This statutory consultation includes a proposed reduction in the primary published admission number (PAN) for Appleton Academy with effect from September 2024. The Trust Board propose to reduce the Published Admission Number of the primary age phase of the school from 60 to 50 with effect from September 2024. No pupil that already has a place in the school will be affected by the change and no changes are proposed to the PAN of the secondary year groups which will remain as 180 pupils. Further details around the reasoning for this proposal can be accessed at Exceed Academies Trust - Admissions Arrangements Consultation for 2024-2025 or by clicking here.

Exceed Academies Trust wishes to consult on a proposed Admissions Policy for the academic year 2024/2025. This Trust policy will replace individual school policies; however, there is no change to the way parents/carers apply for a place. There is a minor change to the oversubscription criteria for some schools to align this across the Trust; details of this are provided below. This policy covers the following schools:

  • Appleton Academy (proposed primary PAN reduction; no other change)
  • Baildon Glen Primary School (new oversubscription criterion)
  • Bowling Park Primary School (new oversubscription criterion)
  • Copthorne Primary School (no change)
  • Cottingley Village Primary School (new oversubscription criterion)
  • Harden Primary School (no change)
  • Holybrook Primary School (no change)
  • Horton Grange Primary School (no change)
  • Horton Park Primary School (no change)

The change to the proposed policy affecting Baildon Glen Primary School, Bowling Park Primary School, and Cottingley Village Primary School, is to:

    • introduce a new oversubscription criterion (Priority 3) relating to children of staff contractually employed to work at the school at which a pupil place is being applied for who:
  • have been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made; or
  • have been recruited to fill a vacant post at the school for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.

A copy of the proposed Admissions Policy can be accessed at Exceed Academies Trust - Admissions Arrangements Consultation for 2024-2025 or by clicking here.
