MNHES is part of Bradford Local Authority’s Section 19 offer for those children and young people who reside in Bradford Local Authority and cannot access their on roll school due to health needs. Short term education and welfare is provided through personalised
learning and welfare packages. Continuation of health intervention is expected to enable the child to reintegrate to their on roll school when their health allows.
MNHES’s Section 19 Offer
The Local Authority must provide education to children and young people who are too unwell to access their normal school. MNHES is part of the Section 19 offer from Bradford Local Authority. The hours of education can be fewer as the provision has fewer
students and is therefore more concentrated. The Local Authority also has an expectation that some provision can be offered through the child’s on roll school (whether that be in person, live online learning or online learning platforms). Health must also
have responsibility for the provision of these children and young people as the student is not attending their on roll school due to health needs. This could be appointments or physical health/therapeutic sessions.
The MNHES offer is up to 3 days (15 hours)
- ½ day each of English, Maths & Science
- ½ day Horizons
- ½ Forest School/Vocational
- ½ Art Group

How?
Children can be referred to MNHES through their on roll school (see Medical Needs One Page Guide) or can access education when they are admitted to the Children’s Wards at BRI & AGH (see Hospital One Page Guide)
What?
Children and young people can access Learning and Welfare through MNHES (see One Page Guides). Children will be allocated a Key Tutor who will be the central point of contact for children, families and schools
