Outdoor Education Centres

Buckden House and Ingleborough Hall Outdoor Education Centres are run as part of Bradford Council's Children's Services and provide a varied range of outdoor learning opportunities for Bradford Schools. Buckden House is based in Buckden village in Upper Wharfedale. Ingleborough Hall is in the village of Clapham just off the A65 between Settle and Ingleton. Both about an hour and a half from the centre of Bradford.

The centres comply with the Health and Safety Executive's Adventure Acticities Licensing Scheme. This includes, caving, climbing and trekking. we also have further external accrediation from Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC). 

The centres are fully open and available to all.

Our usual range of activities are on and inlcude, caving, gorge/gill scrambling, high ropes, archery, tree climbing, abseiling, orienteering, bushcraft, local and hill walks amongst many others.

Buckden House offers self-catering residentials. Catering can be provided at additonal cost. Groups have full use of the centre's kitchen and servery to prepare their own meals. We can assist you in meal ideas and choices and what works best witihin the kitchen. This gives a greater choice for those schools that would like a reduced price residential. The upgrading of the heating and hot water system is now complete along with the centre's outdoor kitchen which hosts a gas-fired pizza oven and electric hot plate.

Buckden House is also available for groups of families and friends to book for their own advertures over wekends and school holidays. 

 

Inglebrough Hall offers fully catered residentials. Visitors will need to provide their own packed lunch on their arrival day and the centre will provide their first night evening meal through to departure day packed lunch.  We have recently developed archery as an activity and now have fixed location problem solving tasks located throughout the grounds. Day trips

In addition to resdientials, the centres are also able to offer day trips too. These can include specific curricular sessions, such as compare and contrast Village Studies and Yorkshire Dales locations or bepspoke adventurous activities inline with our normal programmes..
