Clean Air is important to us in Bradford particularly as 1 in every 5 children has a breathing problem. Parts of our city are not accessible to many of our residents without causing breathing difficulties, or risk of worsening chronic health conditions.
Meanwhile, there are 370 respiratory emergency attendances per week at our district's hospitals.
The organisers of Clean Air Day have launched new research which finds 27% of UK schools (nursery, primary, secondary, sixth form) are in areas above World Health Organization (WHO) air pollution limits.
This equates to an estimate of over 3.4 million* UK (England, Scotland & Wales) children learning in an unhealthy environment.
There are lots resources available for schools to use to promote and get involved with Clean Air Day including material for KS1 and KS2 as well as posters, bunting and worksheets.
