Below is an invitation I've received this morning from the team behind the GTRSB Into HE Pledge: they are working on developing a Pledge for Schools and would like some input from those based in schools in adapting the existing pledge to a new context.
'We are interested in exploring with schools who may wish to find out more about how the Pledge for supporting GRTSB students into higher education (https://www.bucks.ac.uk/about-us/what-we-stand/gtrsb-higher-education-pledge) could
be adapted into a good-practice Pledge for Schools, which builds on the core elements of the Pledge including creating a welcoming environment, outreach to families, and celebrating GTRSB cultures etc.
If you are interested in contributing to this activity (amending the Pledge so it is appropriate for school settings) you are welcome to join us for a zoom meeting on 14 December from 1.30 to 2.30 to look at what needs adapting (meeting details to follow
once you've let us know you'd like to attend). To take part please email Emma@gypsy-traveller.org (cc
Margaret.Greenfields@aru.ac.uk)
who is coordinating the arrangements for this meeting.
Following our development of a Schools Pledge our plan is to have a webinar for schools to launch the Schools’ Pledge on 9 February 2-4pm. We will send you details of this nearer the time, and hope someone from your school can attend.
At the 9 February event we will also be promoting the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s GRT Audit tool for schools https://linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a%2f%2fanti-bullyingalliance.org.uk%2fgypsy-roma-and-traveller-anti-bullying-audit-tool&c=E,1,2QBQBxbwdFkJbcNnTYb0IIZ5b-QUzcjt5AM4JVk80dkoOFJc4UIEx9JKUHUYaSleJWot-lxrqEPW7EVfjE4yC0xywJ3Ekh6EERAZh-BtwJer-YvH&typo=1
and online staff training on GRT bullying : https://learning.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/course/8143/course-12-bullying-and%C2%A0gypsy-roma-and-traveller-young-people?_ga=2.56069291.120227590.1637754320-1208922353.1629985636 '
