Parental Engagement CPD offer for Early Years Settings

Supported by Bradford Birth to 19 and The Bradford Opportunities Area Fund we are offering two free parental engagement CPD Sessions.

Run by and delivered at Holycroft Primary School in Keighley, these sessions are aimed at supporting schools and other providers around parental engagement and supporting families reading with young children.  

There will be twelve places available for each session.

  

Offer 1: Parental Engagement: Helping engage reluctant parents to read with their child  

Thursday February 10th 2022: 1:30 - 3:00

This session will focus on parents of children in EYFS, including families with English as an additional language. We will share the effective practice that we have developed in engaging parents, including those who are more reluctant such as Dad’s, sharing with them the joy of reading with children. There will also be an opportunity to network and share good practice.  

Target: EYFS Practitioners, Parental Engagement Workers   

  

Offer 2: Parental Engagement: How to support parents reading with their child at home  

Tuesday March 8th 2022: 2:30 - 4.00 

This session will focus on how we can help parents of young children with reading at home.  It will focus on practical, parent friendly ways to apply strategies we use in our settings to support children, including developing comprehension, knowledge of book bands, Elklan strategies, phonics, fluency and supporting speech and language. There will also be an opportunity to network and share good practice.  

Target: EYFS Practitioners/Leaders (including PVI’s), KS1 Teachers
