In response to the pandemic the government is encouraging more walking and cycling across our district, a number of initiatives are being funded in West Yorkshire through the Active Travel Fund such as investing in footpaths and cycle lanes and behaviour
change projects. A number of projects are also planned for our schools.
Over £50,000 has been allocated to Bradford District to install bike and scooter parking which should assist at least 15 schools encourage more pupils to cycle or scoot to school.
To express an interest in having the bike/ scooter parking installed please email
eccu@bradford.gov.uk stating: School Name & address, contact person and the reason you’d like your school to be considered.
Please only express an interest if there is space available on your site to accommodate bike/ scooter parking, ideal locations are secure easily accessible prominent well lit locations.
Each school will be considered on a case by case basis and will be subject to a site survey.Please note the exact design of the cycle or scooter parking construction has yet to be finalised but will be discussed when a site visit has been arranged.
Bike/ scooter parking maybe be of particular use to those schools located near cycle routes or have been involved in educational programmes such as anti-idling schemes or bikeability courses, however all school will be considered.
