Born in Bradford Survey

To be completed by: Fri 28 Aug 2020

Time: -Fri 28 Aug 2020 | Venue:

We are collecting data on key issues that have arisen from the changes imposed on schools because of Covid-19, including use of online platforms, provision for vulnerable and SEND children, and pupil engagement with learning.

A big thanks to you all for your help and support so far with the School Survey but it would be even better if we could increase that number even more!

For those Head Teachers and SENCOs still around your help is needed.

There is an opportunity for the District to undertake work that can help inform local and central government education policy in the forthcoming months and years.

We know that the recent Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent closure of schools has had a significant impact on educational provision in Bradford. Schools have come under immense pressure as they have tried to adapt, almost overnight, to online and remote learning, whilst also continuing to provide places to vulnerable children.

The Centre for Applied Education Research (CAER; www.caer.org.uk), in association with Born in Bradford (www.borninbradford.nhs.uk), is running a survey of local schools, collecting data on key issues that have arisen from the changes imposed on schools because of Covid-19, including use of online platforms, provision for vulnerable and SEND children, and pupil engagement with learning. The study is of great scientific significance because of our ability to link it with other sets of information collected through Born in Bradford.

We have developed two questionnaires, one for headteachers (or a member of the SLT), and one for SENCOs (or member of staff in charge of SEND provision). We would like to invite your school to take part in the surveys, and to designate two members of staff; one to fill in each questionnaire.

The survey should take about 20-30 minutes to complete and responses will be confidential and anonymous. Individuals and schools will not be identifiable in any report.  The links are provided below:

https://leeds.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/covid-19-send-coordinators

The password for both surveys is: covid19

We would greatly value your input to enable us to reflect the experiences of as many of our schools as possible. Once we have collected the responses, we will produce a summary report that will be publicly available on the CAER website (www.caer.org.uk).

This research has been approved by the School of Psychology Ethics Committee at the University of Leeds (Ref. number: PSYC-67, Approval date: 21.06.20).
