Education safeguarding: successes and challenges

Education safeguarding: successes and challenges is the next topic for the Public Forum for Education. The forum takes place on Wednesday, 20 June 2018 from 4.30pm to 6.30 pm (buffet from 4.00pm) in the Hockney Room, Margaret McMillan Tower, Princes Way, Bradford BD1 1NN.

This is an opportunity to discuss safeguarding at school, why it is so important, and what works well in both primary and secondary schools.

Speakers will talk about Bradford’s priorities including:-

  • What we do well in Education Safeguarding - successes and challenges
  • What has been happening with primary and secondary schools on safeguarding

Cllr Adrian Farley – Lead Portfolio Holder Children’s Social Care will talk about the work undertaken in Keighley in supporting schools on Education Safeguarding.

Alina Tai - Education Safeguarding Strategic Manager will give an overview of the safeguarding issues addressed in schools over the last year.

Diane Hooper - Attendance Officer at Beckfoot Thornton, will share good practice examples.

The presentations will be followed by round table discussions and an opportunity to share your ideas with the panel and ask questions.

The Public Forum for Education (PFE) is an open forum where everyone with an interest in education is welcome to come along and contribute.

The PFE independent chair is Jackie Walters, a local chair of governors, National Leader of Governance and a Bradford Leader of Governance. Senior elected members and Council officers, join the debates and listen to views. They report back on what they have done in response to what you have said.
