We will be doing maintenance to our website systems on Sunday, 23 August. Despite the ongoing situation with Covid-19 it is essential that we maintain the security of our systems. This will help us continue to deliver vital public health messages and information about council services via our website and allow you all to access our services using online forms. The work should be done with little disruption to you and any interruption should be short. If you do have problems accessing the site or something doesn’t work on Sunday, please try again later.
Saltaire Primary School in collaboration with Hirst Wood Regeneration Group have produced a stunning mural to celebrate the bi centenary of the opening of the Leeds Liverpool canal.
Year 5 children worked with local artist Sharon Snaylam to research, sketch paint and produce ideas which formed the mural. Historian Liz McIvor from BBC4 talked to the children about life on the canal in the 18th & 19th centuries. The mural will be on display at Hirst Wood Locks as part of the bicentenary celebrations this weekend when the Kennet barge will travel along the canal on its commemorative journey.
Sharon Snaylam can be contacted for similar cross curricular projects on shez.snaylam@btinternet.com
