St Edmund’s Nursery School and Children’s Centre has been selected as a Centre of Good Practice for New Arrivals to provide a programme of support for schools with children who are new to English and/or new to education. This free course will provide practical ideas on how to engage new communitie

During the autumn term 2016 we are running three workshops on how schools and settings can better engage with the Central and Eastern European community. The workshops will include:

  • A cultural perspective: Information about cultural attitudes to education in Central and Eastern Europe, based on a recent trip to Ostrava and the personal experiences of the workshop leaders.
  • Inclusive provision: Welcoming children and increasing attendance.
  • Working with parents: How to engage with families both in provision and also during home visits.
  • Partner organisations: Where you can find support, including links with children’s centres.
