Shipley Street Arts Festival - Take part: Friday 1 July 2016

Shipley Street Arts Festival are hosting a schools and communities day on Friday 1 July 2016. Below you will find the information about the shows and activities that can be signed up to.

Beatrix Potter Show

Join Miss Potter herself as she remembers her friends from Hill Top Farm and embarks on a brand new adventure with them.  Mr.Todd is a dapper foxy gentleman who thinks nothing of helping himself to a brand new ‘kerchief from Mrs.Tiggywinkle’s washing line.  When his stealing gets too much Mrs.Tiggywinkle calls for help from the most famous bunny of all, Peter Rabbit.  Together they trick Mr.Todd and show him the error of his ways.

Running time of show is approximately 20 minutes.

Strange Tales of Shipley

Ride with a headless horseman, travel in a phantom carriage, meet brownies, boggarts, hauntings, time-shifting gargoyles, a housekeeper who doesn’t know she’s dead and find out why Royalty paddles in City Park.

Come and enjoy a good yarn with a selection of spooky stories inspired by local myths, legends, landscape and history from Bradford Dale and beyond with local author and tale-teller Irene Lofthouse.  Best for 5 – 12 year-olds. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Running time of session is 45 minutes. Books will be available for sale and signing at the end of the session.

Fanciful Worlds

A storyteller traversed the land.  Taking audiences young and old on exciting adventures!

He spins tales, using all kind of tricks to ignite the imagination.  He works with kings, trolls, troubadours and teachers, unlocking stories within them and weaving them in to bespoke journeys filled with wisdom and truth.  He is a guide to those who would explore the dark deep woods, mysterious mountains or turbulent sea within the human heart.

Running time of session is 30 minutes.

Craft workshops

We will be creating a collaborative piece of art at the Ibis Hotel on Friday 1 July.  Groups of up to 30 pupils can book in to come and join in the fun. This will join the Arts Trail for the rest of the weekend.

Patterns of Peace

Creative craft workshops in the Festival Yurt.  Explore cultural decorative patterns from across the globe with artists Musarat Raza and Nasreen Akhtar.  Design and decorate your own poppy frame with messages of unity or embellish a colourful felt bird of harmony on our Pattern of Peace Tree. Activities suitable for all ages.

Groups of 12 can sign up for this activity.
