Mental Health Champions Plus

Mental Health Champions Plus

Thank you for visiting the MHC+ page! We are no longer registering schools for this academic year (2022-23) but if you are interested in taking part next year, please email us at the address below so that you can be added to the list for next year. We look forward to hopefully seeing you soon!

What is MHC+?

MHC+ has been set up as an extension of the MHC Core offer, and means that we can give more tailored support to those who wish to opt in. It is for MHC Champions in schools who are actively seeking to develop/maintain a robust whole-school offer in relation to mental health and wellbeing. MHC+ Champions begin by completing an audit of an element of whole-school practice and then develop an Action Plan relating to their identified goals. Schools who wish to engage in a more comprehensive audit and action planning process can also work towards Bradford's Healthy Minds Chartermark and/or the DfE Senior Mental Health Leads training (for further information on these, please see the links in the grey box). Schools engaged in either of these projects can still access the termly input provided as part of the MHC+ offer.

MHC+ Champions continue to access the support available through MHC Core, but also access the following:

  • Termly MHC+ meetings (Autumn 2, Spring 2, Summer 2), including ongoing support with whole-school development work and focused training on a different topic each term (previous topics have included Selective Mutism, Emotionally Based School Attendance and Resilience)

  • Healthy Minds online learning modules - training in a range of whole-school approaches (e.g. Restorative Practice, Zones of Regulation, Emotion Coaching, mindfulness) that can then be implemented across school as part of the whole-school offer

  • 1:1 sessions with member of the MHC+ team through the year, to help with the ongoing development of the school's Action Plan and activities related to this

**DATES FOR  REMAINING MHC+ MEETINGS 2022-23 (please note - all to be via Teams unless otherwise specified. Please attend one date per term. Morning sessions 9.30-11.30, afternoon sessions 1-3. Please book onto your chosen sessions via Skills4Bradford)

Dates for Summer 2023

Provisional dates for Summer 2023 (PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE DATES ARE A WEEK LATER THAN PREVIOUSLY ADVERTISED TO ACCOMMODATE SCHOOLS WHO HAVE A TWO WEEK HALF TERM BREAK):

  • Tues 13th June (am and pm)

  • Tues 13th June (pm and pm - we hope that both of these meetings will be real-life meetings with coffee and cake at Margaret McMillan Tower but may need to be virtual instead - we will keep you updated!)
