Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge 2019 starts Saturday 13th July. This year the challenge commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first landing on the Moon and celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Summer Reading Challenge. It is a great opportunity to launch your class into reading.

Information packs are on their way to every school addressed to the Literacy Coordinator. They should arrive this week. Please be sure to take a moment to have a look. The pack includes a template letter for parents explaining the challenge. This year we are also delighted to be having a Celebration event in October at and in partnership with the Science and the Media Museum. We will be inviting schools with high and improved participation and high and improved completion as well as inviting individual children from all our branches, who have demonstarted outa-this-world enthusiasm for the Summer Reading Challenge. Please encourage your pupils to participate. Children collect Space-themed incentives as they read and on completion of the challenge i.e. having read 6 books, receive a certificate and medal. There are also free Space-themed events at libraries throughout the district for families to enjoy during July and August.
