We will be doing maintenance to our website systems on Sunday, 31 January. Despite the ongoing situation with Covid-19 it is essential that we maintain the security of our systems. This will help us continue to deliver vital public health messages and information about council services via our website and allow you all to access our services using online forms. The work should be done with little disruption to you and any interruption should be short. If you do have problems accessing the site or something doesn’t work on Sunday, please try again later.
Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge 2019 starts Saturday 13th July. This year the challenge commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first landing on the Moon and celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Summer Reading Challenge. It is a great opportunity to launch your class into reading.
Information packs are on their way to every school addressed to the Literacy Coordinator. They should arrive this week. Please be sure to take a moment to have a look. The pack includes a template letter for parents explaining the challenge. This year we are also delighted to be having a Celebration event in October at and in partnership with the Science and the Media Museum. We will be inviting schools with high and improved participation and high and improved completion as well as inviting individual children from all our branches, who have demonstarted outa-this-world enthusiasm for the Summer Reading Challenge. Please encourage your pupils to participate. Children collect Space-themed incentives as they read and on completion of the challenge i.e. having read 6 books, receive a certificate and medal. There are also free Space-themed events at libraries throughout the district for families to enjoy during July and August. For more information and queries please contact christinea.donnelly@bradford.gov.uk Development Officer for Children and Young People at Bradford Libraries.
