Policy Exchange: ‘Primary Focus’ The next stage of improvement for primary schools in England

A “perfect storm” of challenges could see over 3,000 primary schools (20%) falling below the government’s tough new minimum standards in 2016. Primary Focus says the most effective way to ensure teachers and schools have the capability and capacity to cope with these challenges is to convert all primary schools into Academies, and then ask each school to join an Academy ‘chain’ by 2020. Impact assessment and consultation on children's homes quality standards: regulatory reform

This document outlines proposed revisions to the way the standards are applied, including amendments to inspection and enforcement.   More information here. An open consultation has also been launched - deadline is 14 November. More information here.

LGA: Tackling Child Sexual Exploitation: updating resources for councillors

Last year the LGA produced a range of resources to help councils tackle child sexual exploitation in their area, including case studies, awareness-raising resources and advice for councillors on how to scrutinise local practice. To keep the resource up to date, the LGA is looking for good practice case study examples of projects to tackle CSE in different local areas. More information here.
