School Teachers Pay Award 2022 with effect from 1 September 2022

In line with the recommendations in the STRB’s 32nd Report, from 1 September 2022 a 5% increase will be applied to all pay and allowance ranges and advisory points, with higher increases to some parts of the Main Pay Range as a step towards achieving a minimum starting salary of £30,000.

Nationally there has been notification of a dispute by all teaching unions and we will keep you updated on this.

The pay award will be backdated to 1 September 2022 and will be paid in November 2022 salaries, where Bradford Council is the payroll provider.

Please note that Bradford Council's pay tables have been updated accordingly for both Teachers' and Support Staff and can be located here - CBMDC Payroll and Pension Liaison Service Resources. PACT HR is currently reveiwing its Pay Policy and this will be available shortly to all PACT HR customers.

Decrease in National Insurance Contributions with effect from 6 November 2022

In a reversal from the increase seen earlier this year, National Insurance rates will decrease by 1.25% from 6 November 2022. This means employees will pay less National Insurance on their earnings, please note that this reduction will apply from November onwards and will not be backdated for previous payments as per HMRC guidelines. The employer NI rate is also decreasing from November from 15.05% to 13.8%.

For schools using Bradford Council's Payroll & Pension Liaison Service, we can confirm these changes have been implemented and tested on the payroll system and will be applied from November 2022 pay. A message has also been added to November’s payslip advising of the changes so all staff should be aware. Further information on these changes can be located here - National Insurance increase reversed - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
