  • March 4,11 and 18‘Introduction to EYFS’ - a 3 part course via Microsoft Teams for any practitioner/teacher who is new to this stage, birth to 5. (£55 for the 3)

EYFS principles, statutory framework, pedagogy and quality practice

This is a duplicate of the course previously run in December 20/January 2.

A recorded version of the sessions will be available for persons to view in their own time if not able to join us live.

The following sessions are provided FREE

  • March 10,12 OR 15 ‘EYFS Reforms Training to prepare for Sept 2021’

This will be a Virtual event lasting for 3 and a half hours with a 45 minute break for lunch.

Slides and messages produced by the DfE will be cascaded to provide essential information and implementation about the forthcoming statutory national rollout of the EYFS Reforms from Sept 2021.

It is strongly advised that EYFS teachers book on to secure a place.

  • March 22 – ‘Early Adopter schools EYFS network meeting’. After school via Teams
  • April 19, OR 21 – ‘New to EYFS Profile’ - a virtual session via Teams.

A session for all Reception teachers who are new to making end of year judgements using the current/existing ELGs and framework (Emerging (1), Expected (2), Exceeding (3).

As announced by the STA and DfE in January 2021

Information: early years foundation stage profile
‘In 2021, the early years foundation stage (EYFS) profile will not be mandatory but we will require providers to use their best endeavours to complete it and provide the information to year 1 teachers and parents, if this is possible. This will be a judgement for schools and practitioners, depending on their individual circumstances.’ ( DfE statement)

There will therefore be no Local Authority EYFSP moderation visits or collection of data for the LA or the National data set this summer 2021.

Schools which decide to ‘use their best endeavours’ to complete it, may have Reception teachers who are new to making the end of year assessment (EYFSP) either this year or last year. The New to EYFS Profile course is therefore offered to support teachers  to ensure that any EYFSP judgements made, using the current framework are consistent and accurate in accordance with the DfE  EYFSP handbook and guidance materials.

Summer term plans in progress

There will be an option for requested moderation discussions (Sense Check surgeries)) for individual schools if required later in the Summer Term.

Accuracy of judgements being made, to aid transition to Year 1 will be especially important following the disruption to early years education due to the pandemic.

Early Adopter schools for the EYFS reforms will be provided with separate support from both the DfE and the LA using the revised materials/ELGs.
