The Office for National Statistics has launched a primary school programme to inspire the next generation to get involved in #Census2021.

Let’s Count! is an exciting free education resource programme that teaches children about the census. It has achieved accreditation from MEI, NATE and the Geographical Association. The resources have been designed to teach children both in the classroom and at home.

What is Census 2021?

The next census is taking place on Sunday 21 March 2021. The census is a survey that happens every 10 years and gives us a picture of all the people and households in England and Wales. This helps to plan and fund public services in your area. By spreading the word and taking part in the census, you’ll help make sure your community is counted and gets the services it needs.

Get involved

By registering your school for Let’s Count!, you’ll have access to best practice video lessons from MEI that can also be used for remote learning. The resources even offer professional development training for your teachers, with an exclusive session about progression in statistics across the primary years.

Register

To find out more and register your school to take part, visit www.letscount.org.uk. Once registered, schools in England and Wales will receive their packs within 14 days, in time for the census taking place on Sunday 21 March 2021. Free packs are limited so please apply as soon as possible.
