Background – what it’s all about In January 2019 the Department for Education published the Early Career Framework (ECF) which sets out all of the things that a newly qualified teacher (NQT) needs to learn and master in their first 2 years of teaching.

To ensure your NQTs’ Early Career Professional Development is built on shared national criteria, the government is funding a 2-year entitlement to professional development based on the ECF. We have selected providers to bring the framework to life in a blended programme of face-to-face and self-directed professional development for NQTs, along with new training for mentors. This 2-year programme will provide a step-change in the support on offer to NQTs and will ensure their progression and learning is consistent, wherever their career takes them.

This September, DfE is rolling out this programme in four areas, including Bradford. Your school has the chance to benefit from this funded programme a year ahead of the national roll-out.

What you need to do now

We understand that schools vary and choice is important. So, DfE has selected four providers, each developing their own set of materials based on the ECF framework. If you are interested in taking part, then you will be able to select a programme which best suits your school’s needs.

If you will have NQTs starting in your school or trust in September 2020, there are three things that you need to do:

  • Take a look at the packages on offer and register your interest by clicking on the logos of the providers below
  • Sign-up to one of the ‘Meet the Provider’ events via the links at the bottom of this email
  • Decide which provider best meets your needs.

Where can you meet the four providers?

The DfE is hosting four Meet the Provider Events – one in each of the roll-out areas. These will give you the opportunity to see what is on offer and ask the providers directly any specific questions you may have.

To secure your place at the events, please click on the links below:

Tuesday 24th March 2020: Bradford
