The 50 Things initiative has been launched at events at Rainbow Children's Centre in Keighley, at Delius Special School on Barkerend Road, The Science and Media Museum in Bradford City Centre and finally The Houses of Parliament at an event hosted by Naz Shah,
MP for West Bradford. The local events were well attended and stories and magnificent bubbles were provided by Rachel McMahon, much to the delight of children and families participating and four local MPs were at the Westminster launch.
Hard copy resources of A2 posters and sets of 50 cards which have been produced for families who do not have easy access to our website and app, are being distributed to families via partner schools, organisations and settings, to excellent feedback from users.
Our aim is to reach the families of all under fives in the Bradford and Keighley District and we are hugely grateful to all our partners who are spreading the words to parents and on socila media.
The web site, which can be viewed at https://bradford.50thingstodo.org/app/os#!/whats-it-all-about and smart phone apps are almost populated, though we anticipate that content will be reviewed and updated as new events and local opportunities. Information
includes 'What, Why and How', links to video tutorials, location maps and guidance for parents whose children have autism or specific needs. The special needs sections have been produced in partnership with Delius Special School and magnificently demonstrated
at the launch event where staff and pupils showcased a number of the suggested activities.
Our growing team of Enthusiasts are available to visit staff teams, parents groups and summer events to talk about the initiative and have already commited to attending events at Better Start Bradford, playgroups, schools and parents' groups.
We are hosting a free '50 Things Visitor Day' on Wednesday 18th July at St Edmund's Nursery School, between 9am and 12noon. Please visit the nursery web site to book your place.
