Leading maths in a school can be a challenging experience. We are still facing the fight against ‘I can’t do maths’ and ‘maths is hard’. This course is designed to support the new (and not so new) subject leader in developing and leading maths across the
Primary school. The five half day sessions, complemented by gap tasks back in school, will include:
- Knowing your school
- Leading by example
- Having a vision and deciding upon mathematics curriculum plans for your
school
- How to spot weaker mathematics teaching in school and how to improve it
- Analysing SAT papers and finding children’s gaps to set foci and address misconceptions
The course is to be hosted at Eldwick Primary School, led by Sharon Day and runs over five half day sessions, as follows -
