Title    

Supporting a pupil with a visual impairment with mobility using sighted-guide technique

Description of training

You will learn how to…

 

  • Sight guide a person who has a visual impairment:
    • Correct grip and positioning
    • Guiding in an open space
    • Guide using the narrow space technique
    • Changing sides
    • Guide through a range of doors
    • Guide up and down stairs
  • Support the development of basic pre-cane skills such as trailing and body protection

 

The training will be practical and require active participation.

Any person who works with or supports a pupil with a visual impairment
