Changes to the Data Sharing Agreement between Bradford Council and Schools

To be completed by: Fri 22 Sep 2017

Time: -Fri 22 Sep 2017 | Venue:

An updated Data Sharing Agreement between Bradford Council and Schools has been sent to all headteachers this week. We would be grateful if schools would agree to sign up to this agreement before Friday 22 September 2017 by following the instructions below.

Following a review of the current Data Sharing Protocol Bradford Council has in place with Bradford schools; it has become apparent that it requires updating to reflect the significant changes within Bradford Council and our greater reliance on working with partner agencies (e.g. Bradford District Care NHS), which the current Data Sharing Protocol does not support.  Data will only be shared with partner agencies where there is a legal requirement to do so.

Currently all maintained schools, academies and free schools have agreed to sign up to the existing data sharing protocol which is a fantastic achievement, and we would like this to continue with the updated Data Sharing Agreement so that Bradford Council can continue to support your school through the services it provides to the school, pupils and families.  Some of the services that rely on the sharing of data include the School Admissions Service, SEN and School Transport.

We would therefore be grateful if you would spare some time to read through the updated Data Sharing Agreement, and agree to be a signatory of it by completing section 1 (parties to this agreement) and return a scanned copy to (copies can also be posted to Jonny Trayer, Bradford Council, Information Management Team, Margaret McMillan Tower, Princes Way, Bradford, BD1 1NN) before Friday 22 September 2017.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply in the UK from 25 May 2018.  The GDPR will require additional information to be included in privacy notices. For example, individuals must be told about their right to complain to the ICO.  The GDPR also requires privacy notices to be transparent and written in clear and plain language, especially if it relates to children.

Further information about General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is available here.
