Down Syndrome - Speech and Language Network North training day

Our fifth networking, training and information day will take place at our centre on Friday 20 January 2017. Topics include: feeding difficulties in children with Down Syndrome and signing to support communication.

The timings for the day are: 9.30 to 3pm

Speakers:      Jo Gallagher & Wendy Uttley

Topics:            Feeding difficulties in children with Down syndrome.  Jo will discuss feeding issues, what needs to be taken into consideration, how we can meet needs and help the child to progress to  become a good independent eater. 

Signing - Wendy will discuss how and why we use signing with children who have Down syndrome and cover approx. 100 signs. The session will  include an opportunity to practise basic  communication using signing. 

The day will be an opportunity for therapists to network and share experiences.
 
Cost:   £20 per head. Refreshments will be provided but please bring your own lunch (the fee will be classed as a  donation—we do not wish to exclude any therapist due to cost)
