Sexuality relationships education-(SRE) and Down syndrome


This course will run over 5 Wednesdays, 9.30-12.00p m
5th, 12th, 19th October, 2nd, 9th November 

The course will cover:  Week 1: How important SRE is for young people with learning disabilities. Names for body parts. Privacy. Week 2: Puberty for girls, puberty for boys,  Week 3: Feelings, personal hygiene, self help skills. Week 4: Masturbation, touching, hugging, affection, friendships,  relationships and dating. Week 5: Safety in the community. Assertiveness. Abuse  prevention strategies. SRE in schools. 
The signs for this topic are also covered and now available in a book— SRE and Down syndrome. 
£150 per professional (£50 for a second professional from the same organisation)/£50 per parent. This is for the 5 week course and includes a folder of handouts and a memory stcik of resources for you to take and keep.
