Keighley’s Children's Centre Services holds welcome week for local families

Keighley’s Children’s Centre Services will be holding a week of welcome days for families across the Keighley area from Monday 6 to Friday 10 July.

The week celebrates the launch of the new children’s centres arrangements in the Keighley area.

The welcome events take place at the following sites:

  • Mon 6 July from 1pm to.2.30pm
    at Highfield, Drewry Road, Keighley, BD21 2QG
  • Tues 7 July from 9.30am to 11.30am
    at Daisy Chain, Elliott Street, Silsden, Keighley, BD20 0DE
  • Wed 8 July from 9.15am to 11.15am
    at Low Fold, Exley Road, Keighley, BD21 1LT
  • Thurs 9 July 9 from 9.30am to 11am
    at Treetops, Rawdon Road, Haworth, Keighley, BD22 8DW
  • Fri 10th July from 10am to 3pm
    at Rainbow, Braithwaite Grove, Keighley, BD22 6JB

Information will be available for families on all the services, activities and groups that are available across the different delivery sites.

There will also be information for parents about how they can get involved with activities including family support and volunteering opportunities.

The new arrangements will see midwives, health visitors working closely with children’s centre staff so that pregnant women and families with young children receive a seamless service from pre-birth to school. 

The Early Years Offer will be available to all families in Keighley, with additional support available for families who qualify for it, such as two-year-old early education places.

The Early Years Offer includes

  • The  Welcome to the World antenatal programme: an 8 week course for pregnant women and their partners to prepare for the birth and parenthood
  • Birth visit at 0 - 8 weeks
  • A home safety visit at 3 – 4 months
  • Weaning advice
  • Early language development session (6 months of age)
  • Developmental movement and play session
  • Early language development session (18 months)
  • A development review at two-and-a-half years
  • Access to a free early education place in the term after their child’s third birthday
  • Free Book Start packs 
  • Access to information through the Families Information Service
  • Family Support
  • Adult learning
  • Advice Services

There's been a lot of hard work to make sure the offer to parents and children is the best it can be.  I’d encourage parents to come along to one of the welcome events to meet the staff and find out more about how they can get involved.”
