Early Years Pupil Premium Data Collection and Funding update

The Early Years Pupil Premium launches this week. This item is an update to information provided to schools through the School Business Managers Forum, the session for Headteachers and Early Years Coordinators and the previous information articles posted on BSO.

As previously advised, the documents relating to Early Years Pupil Premium for schools in the maintained sector can be found on the Finance Section of BSO. 

Data Collection Template

The Application the IT team has developed to allow for the Eligibility Checking Data Collection template to be uploaded securely to BSO is now ready for use and can be accessed via the following link and clicking on the Early Years Pupil Premium folder:

The blank template will be available shortly to download from the Fiannce Pages of BSO.  the template includes instructions on how to complete and upload.

Uploaded, completed forms will then be securely downloaded by  Early Childhood Services and sent to the national checker to establish the eligibility of each child entered.

The deadline for submission of the information will be the same as the May Census since payments will be made in line with the usual Early Education adjustment payments.

In the interests of Data Protection please DO NOT return these forms by any other method.  This is the only process by which funding will be made for schools - please do not use the Free School Meals Checker or the 2 Year Old Checker for this purpose as this will not trigger a payment and the eligibility criteria for the free early education for 2 year olds is not the same as that of Early Years Pupil Premium.  Each checker is only to be used for the specific purpose.  A number of schools have also been returning the completed parental forms to the Free Schools Meals team - these forms should be retained in schools and nothing should be sent to the Free Schools Team as they are not linked to funding for the EYPP.

Funding for Academies

We have now had a response from the DfE stating that it will be the Local Authority's responsibility to pay EYPP to academies (i.e. not the EFA).  So academies will need to follow the same process as other schools in terms of gathering parental information and inputting it onto the Data Collection Template.

EYPP Marketing Posters

If any schools were unable to attend an EYPP session and have therefore not yet collected their EYPP posters, please contact Adele Baines stating how many you would like and they will be posted out.  The posters are currently being translated into Polish, Slovak and Urdu.  If any schools are interested in receiving a number of these translated posters, please once again contact Adele Baines.

Eary Years Pupil Premium Sessions - Claiming and maxmising the value of EYPP

Just a reminder there are still places on the remaining EYPP information session which is an update to the information provided to School Business Managers in December.  It is an opportunity to hear how you can claim the additional funding for disadavantaged 3 and 4 year olds and discuss how to maximise the value of the funding to improve outcomes.

Promotional posters and parental forms will also be available for collection at the session.
