We will be doing maintenance to our website systems on Sunday, 31 January. Despite the ongoing situation with Covid-19 it is essential that we maintain the security of our systems. This will help us continue to deliver vital public health messages and information about council services via our website and allow you all to access our services using online forms. The work should be done with little disruption to you and any interruption should be short. If you do have problems accessing the site or something doesn’t work on Sunday, please try again later.
The Curriculum Innovation Service is offering a half day Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) session at the Innovation Centre. The session will demonstrate how young people are using technology, some of the risks and the educational response to empower pupils to be able to stay safe.
CEOP Command (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) is part of the UK’s National Crime Agency with a remit of pursuing and convicting online child offenders. Thinkuknow is an education programme full of resources and information for young people, parents and educators and the Thinkuknow training is delivered by CEOP trained staff. The session content includes 5 modules: • An introduction to the work of CEOP and how to report to CEOP • What are children and young people doing online? • Online sexual abuse and grooming • Nude selfies and sexting • Overview of the Thinkuknow resources for schools In accordance with guidance from CEOP we only train cleared professionals who will directly deliver CEOP’s products and resources to children. Therefore, we request that all delegates attending the training bring a signed, headed letter from a senior manager in their organisation. This session gives a good insight into the Thinkuknow resources available from CEOP and an understanding of how children and young people can be sexually exploited through online interactions.
The cost of this course is £25 per delegate to cover the venue and refreshment costs.
