Yorkshire Sound Women Network are working with Bradford Arts Centre to offer free Volume up music careers talk and workshop to six Bradford district secondary schools.

The Volume Up events will be delivered in schools, combining a hands-on participatory music technology workshop for pupils with a careers talk and Q&A about working in the music industry – aimed at inspiring more young people, and girls in particular, to get hands on with music technology and learn about the wide variety of roles and careers involving sound.

The events will be led by experienced composer, producer, and sound engineer Chantelle E Scott who is lead lecturer for music production, audio engineering & songwriting at BIMM Manchester, with added careers guidance from vocalist and Launchpad Youth Progression Coordinator Satnam Galsian.

Each event will be delivered on school premises fitting in with your timetable, suitable for young people in Key Stage 3. Content can be tailored according to equipment held by schools but could include developing skills in using a digital audio workstation (DAW), learning about sound synthesis and EDM song arrangement.

A short chat with Chantelle would benefit the workshop to discuss tech, spaces and ideas you may have. Pupils will also be able to find out more about the WIRED music technology club for girls taking place at Bradford Arts Centre in June & July 2026.

Volume Up workshops are available on the following days:

  • Monday 11 May (morning or afternoon)
  • Wednesday 13 May (morning or afternoon)
  • Thursday 14 May (morning or afternoon)

Please contact Heidi at Yorkshire Sound Women Network at h.johnson@hud.ac.uk to book your school in.

This programme is free of charge thanks to support from the Manjit Wolstenholme Fund via Give Bradford.
