The five-week programme will give participants hands-on experience of preparing for, promoting and delivering a live music event. Young people will learn about key areas including sound, lighting, repping and promotion, while working towards a live show
at the end of the project.
Colin Longden, Chair of Shipley Town Council’s Community and Engagement Committee, said:
“Our summer youth work project is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Shipley to get hands-on experience of what it takes to put on a live music event. From sound and lighting to promotion and front-of-house roles, participants will learn practical
skills, build confidence and work together to create something exciting for the local community. We are delighted to be working with Kirkgate Community Centre and All Star to offer this unique programme, and we encourage young people to register their interest
before places fill up.”
The fully funded sessions will take place on Fridays at Kirkgate Community Centre, running from 10.00am to 3.00pm, starting on Friday 31 July 2026. The project will conclude with a live show on the evening of Friday 28 August 2026.
Sophie Stevens, Kirkgate Centre Co-ordinator adds: "This will be an amazing and unique experience for young people in Shipley, we hope it does well as we would love to do projects like this more regularly!"
Places are limited, and expressions of interest are open until 3.00pm on Friday 24 July 2026.
Further details and registration form can be found on the Kirkgate Centre’s Facebook page.
