Bradford Virtual School is a statutory service which plays a strategic role in the Corporate Parenting responsibilities of the Local Authority. This includes a statutory remit for Children in care and Children previously in care alongside a non-statutory remit for Children living in kinship care and children with a social worker as either children in need or those under child protection plans.
The Virtual School are an innovative team of teachers and education professionals who provide expert advice, support and challenge to promote achievement, attendance and progress for all children and young people in care to Bradford, wherever they live. This involves actively monitoring progress and attendance, supporting children and young people and professionals around them, quality assuring Personal Education Plans (PEP), planning targeted interventions and celebrating achievements.
The Virtual School has a staffing structure similar to that of an actual school but without a school building. Children and young people will remain enrolled at their existing school or setting with the Virtual School offering support, guidance and training, to ensure that educational services are effectively coordinated and that children and young people in the care of Bradford Local Authority The Virtual School offers a range of training which is available via the Skills4Bradford website
