?? Support for Students Experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)
6-Week Small Group Intervention

Are you looking for an effective way to support students who are struggling to attend school due to anxiety or other emotional barriers? Our 6-week small group programme is designed specifically to help children and young people experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) — and is ideal for students who are showing the early warning signs of EBSA.

What the Programme Includes:
? Understanding Anxiety – Students learn what anxiety is, how it affects them, and strategies to manage it.
? Practical Coping Skills – Evidence-based techniques to reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and support daily attendance.
? The Importance of Education – Exploring why attending school matters for wellbeing, development, and future opportunities.
? Legal Responsibilities – Age-appropriate information about school attendance and the responsibilities of students, families, and schools.
? Improving Communication – Activities that help strengthen dialogue between students and school staff, ensuring needs are recognised and supported effectively.

Why Schools Choose This Programme:
• Small group format encourages trust, peer support, and shared understanding.
• Helps schools meet pastoral, safeguarding, and attendance responsibilities.
• Supports early intervention and reduces longer-term patterns of non-attendance.
• Provides practical insights to inform individual plans, EHCP requests, and wider wellbeing support.

Who It’s For:
Students who show signs of anxiety-related absence, reduced attendance, or difficulty feeling safe and settled in school — particularly those beginning to display early indicators of emotionally based school avoidance.

Outcomes You Can Expect:
? Increased confidence and emotional awareness
? Stronger coping and self-management skills
? Improved communication between teachers and learners

If your school would like to offer this programme or discuss how it can complement your existing wellbeing and attendance provision, please get in touch.
