Hanson has over the past 3 years received an average of 256 students in year 7. On average there are on average 41 students who are allocated on National Offer Day who did not take up a place at Hanson Academy.
In 2023, 2024 and 2025 the unexpected lower number of entries leaves the school with a minimum shortfall of £258,600 per year group, per year and makes budgetary planning, recruitment and curriculum design incredibly difficult.
Projections for student numbers in the catchment area is due to peak in 2027 and for there to be a significant decrease thereafter. As a result, taking into consideration the reduction, it is likely there will still be capacity to admit all students
requiring a place. Other schools in the area have historically admitted pupils over their meaning this change shouldn't will not impact on parental choice.
This is the only proposed amendment to admission arrangements at the school; a copy of the full policy can be found (link to the website). If adopted, this change would apply to the 2027, and each subsequent, Year 7 intake; classes already at the school
would be unaffected.
