Developed by Balfour Beatty PLC in partnership with Bradford Council, this launch of a children’s book reflects our shared commitment to
delivering long-lasting benefits for the communities we work in.
This engaging and educational book highlights Bradford’s regeneration journey, showcasing significant infrastructure improvements, healthier lifestyles, and sustainability gains.
The narrative brings to life real-world examples of Bradford’s transformation, including the City Centre Walking and Cycling Improvements project, the Cycle Superhighway project, and the Interchange developments funded under the Transforming Cities Fund.
It also highlights the benefits of these projects including reduced emissions, embracing of active travel like walking, cycling or using public transport as well as the overall enhanced connectivity throughout the city and wider district.
The key themes in the book have been designed to link in with the school curriculum for KS1 and KS2. There’s history (historical figures such as Sir Titus Salt), Geography (urban land use, environmental impact of transport), Science (urban wildlife and green
spaces) and so much more.
52,520 copies have been printed – ensuring every reading-age child across Bradford receives their own copy. These will be distributed to schools across the district in the coming weeks.
Schools have been invited to attend a special launch event which will take place in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Bradford on Monday 17 November.
