Step 2: Empowering Young Minds – 6-Week Support Programme

Overview:
This 6-week group-based programme is designed to support young people in improving school attendance, understanding and managing anxiety, and building confidence and self-esteem.

Group Size:
6–8 participants per group

Target Audience:
Young people experiencing:

  • Low school attendance (but able to attend sessions)
  • Relationship challenges with teachers
  • SEND, Autism, or ADHD
  • Low-level anxiety

Programme Outline:

Week 1: The History of Education
Why education matters and how it shapes our future.

Week 2: Understanding Anxiety
What anxiety is and how to manage it using self-help tools.

Week 3: Confidence & Self-Esteem
Exploring self-worth and strategies to boost confidence.

Week 4: Being Your Best Self at School
Practical tips for showing up positively and consistently.

Week 5: Building Healthy Relationships
Navigating friendships, peer pressure, and teacher relationships.

Week 6: Understanding Council Support
Educating young people on local processes and available support systems.


Additional Topics (Optional Add-ons):

  • Peer pressure & bullying
  • Healthy vs. unhealthy relationships
  • Friendship boundaries
  • Conflict resolution with teachers

Ongoing Support:
1:1 sessions available for continued guidance and personal development.
