Oxenhope Pre School and Oxenhope Church of England Primary School are proposing a merger that would see the Pre School become part of the Primary School from September 2026. This document outlines the proposal, and invites feedback from parents, carers,
staff and the wider community.
Proposal
Oxenhope Pre School are proposing to merge with Oxenhope Church of England Primary school.
This means that from September 2026 Oxenhope Pre School will become part of Oxenhope Church of England Primary School, operating under the school’s leadership and management and part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust family. (BDAT).
There are several benefits of the merger including but not limited to:
- A seamless learning journey for children from age 2 to 11.
- Consistent teaching approaches and shared values across early years and primary stages.
- The smooth transition for pupils between preschool and school.
- Existing staff currently employed by the Preschool will stay the same and will become part of the school team.
- Collaboration and professional development for staff across BDAT.
- Preschool staff will have further access to training, resources, and leadership support.
- Shared resources, promoting collaboration, and sustainability.
In summary this is an opportunity to bring the early years and the primary provision together in a way that benefits children, families and staff. By joining forces, a more seamless and supportive learning journey from age 2 through to Year 6 will be provided.
Oxenhope Pre School, Oxenhope Church of England Primary School are consulting with key stakeholder, including:
- Oxenhope Pre School Staff
- Oxenhope Church of England Primary School Staff
- Parents/carers of current pupils and prospective parents of pupils
- All other Admission Authorities within the District including Bradford LA.
- Neighbouring Local Authorities
- Councillors and MPs
- Trade Unions
- Anyone else who has an interest in the proposed changes
The consultation period will run for six weeks from Monday 20th October to Monday 1st December, after which time any representations received will be collated and a report taken to the Preschool, School and BDAT.
