Skills for Work are currently recruiting for learners who want to undertake the Supporting Work in Schools
(Teaching Assistant) - Level 3 Certificate.
The course is delivered over a 10 month period at our Skills for Work premises, Britannia House, Bradford, and will provide learners with knowledge and understanding needed for working directly with children/young people (aged 5-19 years old) in school settings. The
course is suited to those who already hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification and for those who are now looking to progress onto a Level 3 accredited programme. This is a fully funded course, subject to learners meeting the
following eligibility criteria:
- Aged 19 or over
- Residing in West Yorkshire
- Has the right to live in the UK (Not on a student or temporary visa)
- Does not hold a previous Level 3 qualification
- Currently not enrolled any other government funded course
To achieve the full qualification, learners are expected to complete 11 units and attend a voluntary work placement in a school setting for one day a week throughout the duration of the course. Learners will also be required to take part in 2 observations,
as well as have an enhanced DBS check in place before starting their school placement. Benefits of a work placement for the school include boosting staff confidence and capabilities, strengthening classroom support with an extra pair of hands, and retaining
and growing talent within the school. Benefits to the learner include gaining increased confidence, gaining a nationally recognised qualification as well as pathways to a future career in teaching.
