The first phase of Local Stories for Learners – the new suite of downloadable activity packs from Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture – is now live.

Developed as part of Bradford Made, the free resource hub for Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, these five activity packs bring to life the hidden histories and untold stories of Bradford’s diverse communities. Created with educators, cultural partners and young people, they are designed to help learners build pride in place and a deeper connection to their city.

What’s included:

  • The first five of 15 activity packs released now: https://bradford2025.co.uk/resources/
  • Themes such as migration, working class history, food culture, identity, and inclusion
  • Resources ideal for Black History Month and World Food Day this October
  • Materials suitable for ages 5–16+ (KS1–KS4 and FE)
  • Designed to support curriculum development, CPD and Ofsted priorities

The first five packs include stories about:

  • Bradford and Keighley’s textile mills
  • The UK’s first free school dinners (in Bradford!)
  • The life of Nancy de Garrs, maid to the Brontës
  • Victor Wedderburn’s photography of Bradford’s African-Caribbean community
  • Migration through the lens of Bradford’s desserts

Five more packs will be launched at the Bradford Made Conference on 12 November 2025.
