How can we ensure that every child – irrespective of their background – is empowered to find, develop and express their voice?

With oracy being a key driver of the Labour government’s education pledge, now is an exciting opportunity for schools and education practitioners to pool expertise and support young people’s written and spoken communication in the primary classroom.

This year, Bradford City of Culture is home to the Primary Conference 2025. At ‘Raising voices, raising literacy’, speakers from the world of poetry and academia will explore practical and creative ways to engage a generation of young writers and confident communicators – in the classroom and beyond.

Confirmed speakers include writer and broadcaster Jeffrey Boakye, award-winning author A.M.Dassu, teacher and author Maddy Barnes, writer and educator Jonny Walker and education advisor and literacy expert James Durran.

Let’s empower the voices of Bradford’s young people. Join the conversation – find more information and register here: Primary conference 2025: Raising voices, raising literacy | National Literacy Trust
