Bradford Council’s gritting crews would like help to name five of their gritting wagons this winter season.

They have five gritting wagons, one from each constituency, that they’d like to give names to and would like the help of children from primary schools across the district to come up with suitable names.

The crew have already been working with Thackley Primary School in Bradford East on the idea and they’d like to work with one primary school from each of the other constituencies.

The schools selected to take part this year would get a visit from our gritting crew with one of the gritter wagons.

The crews will take part in an assembly with the children who would also get to have a look round the wagon and have their photos taken (if they’re OK with this).

Children wanting to take part would get a drawing of a gritter wagon to colour in and the chance to put forward a name for the gritter.

The names for the five wagons would be chosen in conjunction with the headteacher (or nominated teacher) at the school and our gritting team.

Once the names are on the gritter wagons the crews will return to the school for the children to see the gritter they’ve named.

So, if your primary school is in either Bradford West, Bradford South, Keighley or Shipley constituency and you’d like to take part please email the name of your school and your contact details to press.communications.@bradford.gov.uk for the attention of Alice. The closing date is Friday 4 October.

If successful we will do the same again next year with 5 different schools one from each constituency.
