Great rhymers make great readers, and the Bradford Libraries Rhyme Challenge is an excellent way for children and parents to take part in an informal learning opportunity whilst having lots of fun too.
Did you know that last year 5,500 parents and children took the challenge across the district and 97% parents said that the challenge had improved their child’s speech and language.
To take the challenge children and parents/carers learn the five nursery rhymes in the pack. It is suitable for children age 0-6 years.
Each pack contains full instructions and enough resources for 30 families, including rhyme sheets and completion certificates. If you have more than 30 families please ask for an extra pack. To order packs please contact:
sarah.thornton@bradford.gov.uk
If you are a school setting the packs will arrive on the van from Birkslands however if you have a group not in a school and are able to collect your packs from your local library, we would be happy to arrange it - just let us know which one.
All we ask is that you collate the parents feedback sheets inside the pack and forward to us before end April 2025. We only have a limited number of packs so please only order if you have scheduled the challenge into your plans.
Parents and children who bring their completed Rhyme Challenge certificate into their local library can enter a prize draw to win individual prizes!
Finally, during November we hold an Awards Ceremony for those organisations that have gone the extra mile – so don’t forget to self-nominate before the end April 2025 (details on the pack).
