Kickstart the academic year with strategic planning and practical ideas! This is a rare opportunity for Primary Languages leaders to receive a full day of CPD.

YOUR TRAINER – STÉPHANIE PUISSEGUR
Stéphanie is a freelance education consultant and translator. A native French speaker, she is
also fluent in Spanish. She trained as a languages teacher before working for over 20 years
as a school improvement consultant in a large local authority.  Throughout her career, she
has delivered training on many aspects of teaching and learning but her main specialisms
are languages, intercultural understanding, EAL pedagogy and vocabulary development.
WITH SPECIAL GUEST JOHN ROLFE MBE
John is Community and Partnerships Manager at the Global School Alliance and manages
the Global School Awards. He is passionate about sharing and celebrating the impactful and
inclusive global dimensions of teaching and learning and developed a number of global
programmes for schools including the British Council International School Award. He has
travelled widely in his global career and worked with a range of Educational Ministries to
develop school partnerships and exchanges. John received an MBE in 2018 to recognise his
commitment to global education in schools.
COURSE OVERVIEW
During this full day course, like-minded colleagues will network, reflect on their current
practice and develop a renewed confidence in leading Languages. The morning will focus on
strategic subject leadership, including curriculum planning, the pillars of progression and
supporting colleagues. In the afternoon, we will explore active learning strategies and
practical ideas to introduce and practise vocabulary so that children know more and
remember more. Be prepared to have some fun!
OUTCOMES
Delegates will:

  • consider how to foster children’s curiosity about other cultures through international links
  • review the effectiveness of their curriculum;
  • gain ideas to support and develop colleagues;
  • explore strategies to develop children as linguists;
  • gain a range of practical, active learning strategies for effective vocabulary learning;
  • network and share ideas with like-minded colleagues.
