Subject leader training for writing and maths is now available to book on S4B.

Writing

To support schools with the development of an effective writing curriculum from EYFS through to Y6 this training will cover:

  • Expectations for each year group, key skills that need to be fully embedded, ensuring continuing progression and avoiding gaps in learning.
  • Unpicking key skills identified as areas of weakness from the LA’s moderation process. This will provide practical strategies for tackling these areas in teaching.
  • Leading an effective moderation process across school that will QA assessments and provide next steps for subject improvement.

Dates:

Day 1 2nd October (full day)

Day 2 12th November (half day)

Day 3 22nd January (half day)

Whilst it is recommended that subject leaders attend all sessions they can be booked individually.

Maths

Following analysis of assessment papers from this year’s, and previous SATs, key areas of learning have been identified as weaker and preventing some pupils attaining age expected. Training will unpick each area separately, look at the progression of learning and offer practical strategies for teaching.

Progression in teaching fractions  21st November (half day)

Helping pupils to read and interpret word problems 23rd January (half day)

Developing a deeper understanding of geometry 6th February (half day)

Following the success of last year’s training we are once again providing training for all year groups in writing and maths. The autumn sessions will cover teaching strategies and year group expectations whilst the spring/summer sessions will focus on assessment and moderation.

All training is available to book on Skills4Bradford. As numbers are limited, please book places as soon as possible.
