Schools participating in the Walk to School Challenge (WOW) have been competing to top the West Yorkshire leaderboard over February. February’s leaderboard has been announced with school’s receiving visits from special guest, Strider.
The Walk to School Challenge (or WOW) is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker. If they travel sustainably (walk/wheel, cycle or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded
with a badge. On average, WOW schools see a 30% reduction in car journeys taken to the school gate and a 23% increase in walking rates.
If you’d like to see if your school is eligible for a fully funded place on WOW you can register interest
here or email walktoschoolWY@livingstreets.org.uk for more information.
