David Scott AKA ARGH KiD is a BBC Presenter, Poet and Rapper
Was Shakespeare the first famous rapper? Is Stormzy the UKs biggest poet? Through analysis, performance and discussion David shows students the links between Shakespeare and modern music.
The "Hip Hop vs Shakespeare" workshop aims to explore the similarities between hip hop lyrics and the works of Shakespeare, highlighting the poetic elements that both forms of expression share. The goal is to encourage teenagers to see hip hop as a contemporary
form of poetry and to inspire them to engage in writing lyrics or poetry.
About David
BBC Presenter, Official Man Utd Poet and Rapper David Scott - who performs under the stage name ARGH KiD - has a talent to speak to young people in many ways.
Through his radical workshops David works with primary and secondary schools, PRUs, prisons and undeserved communities using the tools of hip-hop music to reengage students with writing and change the perception of what poetry is, and why everyone should
write. His work is internationally recognised with media appearances in The New York Times, The Guardian, BBC, Sky and beyond. David’s mission to inspire a love of creative writing has garnered him plaudits from people such as Noel Gallagher “A Maverick…”
