To mark the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), partners and colleagues are holding an awareness conference at Bradford City Hall.

In this event, we will also be offering attendees the opportunity to sign Bradford District’s zero tolerance pledge towards FGM. Simply put, we need to stand united against this brutal abuse or it will never be eradicated.

The agenda is as follows:

  • Alison Lowe, DeputyMayor of Police and Crime West Yorkshire - Introduction
  • Yemi Fagborun (MBE)  - FGM defined and the myths vs the reality
  • Detective Inspector Charlotte Bolton - Prevention and the Police response
  • Darren Minton - A safeguarding perspective on FGM
  • Zero tolerance in practice pledge – how we come together to stop FGM for good
  • Q&A session with panel of experts
  • Support services available
