AI adventures: Discovering the Magic of Object Detection
Suitable for Key stages 2 - 4 (Ages 7 -16) Discussion Activity 25 - 30 minutes. Small groups of 5-10.
This interactive session will explore the concept of real-time object detection and is designed to introduce young people to the exciting technology behind self-driving cars, robotic automation, facial recognition, and more. After a simple explanation of
what object detection is, how it is trained and why it's important, participants will have the chance to get hands-on with some AI object detection tools. Using a webcam, participants can stand in front of the camera and show different objects which the computer
will try to detect and classify. We will encourage participants to ask questions and discuss the limitations of object detection, answering questions like: Can you trick the AI into making a mistake? Why can the AI only recognise certain objects? How might
we train the AI to recognise new objects?
The pitch level can be adapted for a variety of age groups.
Dates Available to book: 28th November, 5th & 6th December, 12th & 13th December
