A Small Steps Approach to Learning for children with SEND (revised 2023)

This 3 day workshop is open to anyone working with young children with additional needs/disabilities and their families. It covers the core curriculum set out by the National Portage Association. The course is very relevant for parents and all Early Years Practitioners, SENCOs & Teachers particularly those working in nurseries and 2 year provision, Schools, Children’s Centres and other Early years settings. www.portage.org.uk

The first 2 days are being held at Abbey Green Nursery School and the 3rd is virtual.

Description

The course will cover –
 

  • The Portage Model
  • Working in Partnership with parents/carers
  • Agreeing long term goals and writing clear teaching targets
  • Helping children learn by the small step approach (task analysis)
  • Specialist teaching techniques
  • Play for children with additional needs
  • Recording and evaluating children’s developmental progress

Booking Information

The course fee also includes National Portage Association (NPA) course booklet and NPA registered Certificate.

An administration fee of £30 will be charged for non-attendance and cancellation up to 5 days prior to the training course. Cancellation should be made by emailing EducationalPsychologyTeam@bradford.gov.uk or alternatively via your booking on the Skills4Bradford website. N.B. if cancelling via the Skills4Bradford website you must type in the reason for the cancellation prior to saving.
