Writing is incredibly complex, and can place a heavy burden on working memory. In our series of webinars, we’ll explore the evidence around working memory, before diving deep into a number of different areas.
In the first webinar of a series, Professor Amanda Waterman, Professor of Psychology at the University of Leeds, will share the broader research into working memory.
She will be joined by Mark Miller, Director of Bradford Research School, to explore some of the practical considerations for the teaching of writing, including:
- Transcription: Handwriting, typing and spelling
- Text Generation: Ideas, vocabulary and sentence construction
- Executive Function: planning, motivation and reviewing
This webinar will be followed by three more where we dive a little deeper into each of these elements:
Transcription: Tuesday 21 November
Text Generation: Wednesday 29 November
Executive Function: Wednesday 6 December
