Bradford Schools Code Clubs – Raspberry Pi have scheduled a webinar in June for Bradford Schools. This is your opportunity to learn more about how to establish a code club for young people aged 9 and above.

The registration form can be found here

What is Code Club?

At Code Club, we want all children to have the opportunity to learn to code. We support a global community of volunteers, educators, and partners to run free coding clubs, where young people aged 9 and above can learn to create their ideas with code.

Why get involved with Code Club?

Code Club provides FREE, fun, easy-to-follow project guides that help young people to make their own games, animations, and websites. As well as allowing young coders to develop their digital skills, these projects give them the opportunity to explore topics that matter to them, and to develop skills around problem solving, resilience and teamwork.

The Code Club projects introduce coding concepts one-by-one, so young people can progressively build their knowledge. Adults running a club don’t need to have any previous coding experience, and many volunteers and educators in our community start out as complete beginners.

Club organisers and volunteers get access to a wide range of helpful resources, including downloadable guides, certificates and posters. You can also build your skills at a range of online training workshops and community events, or contact the Code Club team for additional support.

What does a Code Club look like?

Code Clubs are fun, informal spaces that are inclusive for all young coders.

A typical Code Club:

? Is hosted in a school

? Runs for an hour a week, outside of class time (after school, during lunchtime or as a breakfast club)

? Is hosted by an educator, sometimes with the help of a volunteer

? Supports 10-15 children during a session

? Runs using an internet connection on the existing hardware at your venue, for example Chromebooks, laptops, or tablets

How do I get involved?

Join the Code Club team at 4.30pm on Thursday 15 June for a 1-hour online training on how to get started. At this session you’ll learn about what’s involved in running a club, take a look at the Code Club projects, discover some basic coding in Scratch, and get the chance to ask your questions.
